6 More Red Brick Home Palettes
We recommend exterior paint color palettes for red brick homes almost every day in our online and in-person color consulting practice. One of our most popular blog posts is titled "The Best Exterior Paint Colors for Red Brick Homes (and What Not to Do)." Tips for Paint Color Palettes with Red Brick
How to Use Them to Keep Your Whites Creamy Consider SW Alabaster, a warm off-white, or SW Shoji White, a very light greige. Both of these colors are very light. The exterior will appear white. White that is clean and crisp will look harsh.
Outside, paint colors appear five to ten times lighter and more vibrant. A gray color can appear blue, green, or violet depending on its undertones. One of the most common mistakes that people make as homeowners is selecting a paint color that is too light for exteriors.
If you can, paint the siding the same color as the grout. The majority of grout is green-gray, but taupe grout can occasionally be observed.
Stucco-like surfaces with rough textures appear darker. If the siding and stucco of a house are painted the same color, the stucco will appear darker.
If you have white vinyl windows, choose a white trim color. It doesn't have to be identical. If the trim color is white, vinyl windows will appear less harsh.
Purchase the best paint you can afford to extend the life of your paint. High-quality paint won't matter as much because dark colors fade more quickly than light colors. The longer the warranty, the better the paint. A paint intended for construction should not be used.
Facing Bricks |
Here are six of our favorite color schemes for red brick paint. All of the colors are produced by Sherwin-Williams.
Traditional Red Brick Color Palettes
We adore a house with red brick that is blue. SW Granite Peak is another subdued color that becomes more vibrant and colorful outside. We like it because it isn't as dark as other navy blue paint colors.
Rushing River is a lovely mid-toned green-gray from Sherwin Williams that stands out from the red brick and complements the green-gray color. The style never goes out of fashion.
Our favorite greenhouse is one with Red Bricks! In this instance, we chose SW Retreat because it is a muted green that prevents the palette from looking like one for Christmas.
Red Brick in a Color Scheme for a Modern Farmhouse
We get a lot of requests for a modern farmhouse look, and this is a pretty, simple, and timeless version. We chose SW Alabaster, a creamy off-white, for the house. We wouldn't choose a white that was brighter than Alabaster for exterior palettes because those whites need to be creamy and go well with the brick. As expected, it's white. Using this palette, paint the siding, trim, fascia, and soffits in the same color. Not only will it look great, but you'll save a lot of money on labor as well. The look is completed by a colorful and pretty front door. White paint gives the impression that your house is bigger!
